The Best guitar FREE Plugins (2022)

1. Ample Guitar M Lite II

M Lite II is an authentic virtual instrument that allows you to accurately sample acoustic guitar melodies and chord sequences.

Most of the acoustic guitar plugins out there in 2022 can sound overly “robotic” and inauthentic, and often lack the timbre and human elements of a real guitar performance.

However, M Lite II includes many of the audio textures and imperfections that make a guitar sample sound real, such as fret noises, hammer on/off noises and real strumming samples. These details enhance the realism of the sound, making this plugin a fantastic option for creating beautiful acoustic guitar sounds.

On top of that, M Lite II is packed with on-board features, such as microphone customisation settings, a guitar tab reader and many more additional controls.

We’ve used this plugin extensively within Logic Pro and it works perfectly with the DAW interface, making it one of the best Logic Pro free plugins out there!

Vital free VST plugin

2. Vital

Vital is without a doubt one of the best free VST plugins of all time, and upon its release blew all other free VST synths out of the water.

This free synth was created by Matt Tytel, the developer of another classic free synth Helm. With Vital, he has given us a creative wavetable synth powerhouse that every producer needs in their plugin collection.

It’s not just that it’s “good because it’s free”, it’s more like “how can this incredible synth possibly be free?”

The sheer amount of features is absolutely mind-blowing, from the immense wavetable functionality to the seemingly endless modulation options. It even has a unique text-to-wavetable feature, allowing you to generate original wavetables from any text!

Vital is an absolute no-brainer whether you are just starting out, or you’re a more experienced producer looking to expand your Logic Pro free plugin arsenal.

Surge is an absolutely wonderful tool, featuring an expansive selection of oscillator controls, filters, modulation parameters and even on-board FX units. It also comes with a whopping 2779 patches and over 600 wavetables!

Pendulate free VST

4. Pendulate

Pendulate is a free VST synth with a wild temperament and a truly unique design.

If you’re looking for bizarre, aggressive sounds for trap, dubstep or other EDM genres, Pendulate definitely should be on your radar.

Pendulate can be used to create searing leads, aggressive basslines, lush, evolving pads and everything in between.

If you’re used to the classic oscillator-based synth layout, Pendulate’s workflow may seem a little tricky at first. However, it does come with a generous selection of presets to experiment with, and after a while its novel design becomes a lot easier to naviagate.

This VST synth works perfectly within Logic Pro, so is a fantastic choice if you’re looking to expand your Logic Pro free plugin collection!

Graillon Free vst plugin

5. Auburn Sounds – Graillon

In our opinion, Logics stock vocal processing plugins are somewhat lacking. If you’re a Logic Pro user and are looking for a creative vocal tool for autotune and vocal correction, Graillon should be at the top of your list.

Graillon has an industrial-style, intuitive GUI and is incredibly beginner-friendly. When the Correction module is activated, Graillon will begin to snap your vocal sounds to specific notes (which you can choose using the small keyboard section at the bottom of the interface).

You can then control the speed of the autotune, smooth the tuning and edit the snapping range of the plugin. In our opinion this free Logic Pro VST plugin sounds great out the box, but these controls give a lot of creative freedom over your autotune effects.

Graillon is a highly versatile creative tool, and is capable of creating anything from robotic, futuristic autotune to smooth, subtle pitch-correction.

Fresh Air: free plugin for logic, fl studio, ableton

6. Fresh Air

Fresh Air is a free effect plugin by Slate Digital that enhances the presence and colour of your sounds. It is a fantastic-sounding dynamic processing tool for adding a little “shine” to your sounds without any resonance. Plus, it works perfectly in Logic Pro.

The interface features two main knobs Mid Air and High Air, with each knob affecting a different frequency range. Mid Air adds some neutral frequencies and a clean, spacious effect, and High Air adds brightness and clarity to the sound.

Fresh Air sounds particularly impressive on vocals, making it incredibly easy to add high-end, crisp tones to a vocal track. Plus, it also sounds fantastic on many other sounds, such as snares, leads, pads and more!

Despite its simple, stripped-back design, Fresh Air is a useful tool for both beginners and advanced producers.

8. Logic Free Plugins: ComBear

The final Logic Pro free plugin in this rundown is the dynamic Parallel Compression effect plugin ComBear.

ComBear is a very intuitive beginner-friendly plugin for achieving professional compression effects. Compression is often one of the hardest effects for beginners to wrap their heads around, so having a plugin that makes parallel compression so straightforward is a god-send.

The interface features Compress, Mix, Input Gain, Make-Up Gain and Bypass controls. This “parallel” sound design gives bold, intense results and can completely transform a sound.

So if you’re looking for a simple way to achieve professional-sounding compression effects, ComBear should definitely be on your radar.
